The BMX Box is a specialist store in Sunderland, which provides a range of services, as well as a social hub, for the North East region’s growing army of BMX riders.

With strong links to national suppliers, brands, riding groups, event organisers and enthusiasts, we live and breathe BMX, and are proud of it.

The store was opened in 2009, after managing director Lee Southern Acted upon what he saw as both a gap in the market and an opportunity to turn his passion into a business. Quickly acquiring premises in Silksworth, a stones throw away from the local skate park, Lee used skills from his previous trade to convert a run-down fruit and vegetable store into a fully-functioning specialist outlet. The BMX Box was born.

Lee says: “Despite the fact that there is a massive BMX scene in Sunderland as well as excellent riding provisions, there wasn’t a specialist outlet for people to get hold of equipment and maintain their bikes properly.”
